This is Freya, an Autumn Fairy.
The Soft Sculpture process begins with a wire skeleton that has been built from anatomically proportionate drawings.
Layers of cotton batting are built up gradually and "muscles" are added.



The example shown is the French Orpheline.
The head is sculpted from clay, either water based or air dry polymer, covered in two layers of nylon and handpainted. The hair is human, attached in small locks with silicone over many hours, allowed to dry for several days, then styled.
