Petit Valiant is a 23″ One of a Kind French child who is playing at sword fighting. He is made with a wire armature with muscles and fat layers built in batting and cottonwool and covered in two layers of dyed nylon. The last two photos show details of body construction. His head is sculpted of paperclay and covered in two layers of matching dyed nylon which is then oil painted in layers to bring out his grey eyes and soft freckled coloring. His auburn hair is real, attached to his head strand by strand. His t-shirt is a striped knit and his shorts are made of a vintage blue grey cotton, cape of a vintage boucle’ lined in green felt. He holds a sword and shield made of cardboard and foil.

She is made with a wire armature over which batting has been layered over a period of months to build up a realistic anatomy. Two layers of dyed nylon have been needle sculpted over this, and her head, sculpted of paperclay, covered in matching layers of nylon and handpainted. She is swaddled in a cotton sling of vintage material that has been lined with silk cocoon strippings. Her nest is lined with felting fiber, dyed cocoon strippings and dyed silk.
Her base is about 30" high, made of decorative metal and adorned with artificial greenery and pine cones.
Her delicate features are handpainted and her sparse baby hair is of jet black Tussah silk.
